Our Family's Journey

Our journey in the restaurant business began in 1991. For more than three decades, Robert May and Irma Chavez-May have shared a passion for great food and warm hospitality. In October 2024, that passion brought us to the heart of historic Mesilla, New Mexico, where we opened Madelyn’s in the beautiful historic building on the corner of Calle Principal and Calle De Correo. Madelyn’s is named after our only granddaughter, Madelyn, whose love, joy, and spirit are a special part of our family and the inspiration behind our restaurant. Located just steps from the enchanting Mesilla Plaza, Madelyn’s is more than a restaurant—it’s a place to enjoy good food, great company, beautiful surroundings, and the vibrant spirit of Mesilla.

We proudly serve artisan coffees, freshly baked pastries, made-from-scratch crepes, delicious breakfast dishes, smoothies, made-from-scratch pizzas, hearty sandwiches, and more. Our full bar offers the perfect complement to a leisurely meal or an evening spent enjoying live music with friends. There’s plenty of room to relax and enjoy Madelyn’s, with five unique dining areas, including our bar, and three beautiful outdoor patios surrounded by gorgeous landscaping. Whether you’re joining us for breakfast, lunch, dinner, drinks, or simply a cup of coffee and a sweet treat, we hope you’ll find your favorite spot here.

Music is also at the heart of what makes Madelyn’s special. We’re proud to bring some of the most live music to the Mesilla area, featuring talented local musicians as well as artists traveling through the region. At the center of it all is our “Biggest Little Stage in Mesilla,” where musicians come together to share their talent and create memorable experiences for our guests. After more than 30 years in the restaurant business, we understand that a great restaurant is about much more than what’s on the plate. It’s about hospitality, community, music, laughter, and the memories made along the way.
